“If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man.
-Mark Twain
Today, I was forwarded one of those humor emails that we all get from our friends. Today, though, I read it because it was about dogs, and dogs are cute; meaning I hoped the email would also be cute. I wasn't terribly disappointed, but there were a couple of great quotes in there that I thought might be worth posting here. Here they are in my order of preference:

Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
-Robert A. Heinlein

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man.
-Mark Twain

If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them.
-Phil Pastoret

Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate.
-Sigmund Freud

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.
-Ben Williams

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.
-Josh Billings

I wonder if other dogs think poodles are members of a weird religious cult.
-Rita Rudner

Cute quotes! :-)

How do you do to get those big quotes in the entry, whatever they are called?

Hi Moa!

Those are called "drop quotes" in publishing. I saw them used on another website and I just viewed the source code to figure out how they did it. Here's the code I use:

<div style="line-height: normal; font: bold 14pt Georgia, serif; margin: 10px 10px 10px 15px; width: 200px; float: right;">&#8220 YOUR TEXT HERE &#8221</div>

You can, of course, modify any or all of the variables to customize it for your tastes.

Thanks!

I will have to try that sometime. Might be difficult for me to change those variables, I only recognize font. :p Will try to remember "drop quotes". :p
